The city of Houston is located in the Southwest part of Texas near to Gulf of Mexico. This huge metropolis is the fourth most populated city in the U.S. and the biggest in the Southern United States. The metropolitan area consists of The Woodlands, Sugar Land and Houston serving as the center point. Houston has an official nickname of “Space City” because it’s the location of NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. Space Center Houston, a Smithsonian affiliated museum giving an up-close look at the U.S. space program, serves as one of the biggest attractions for visitors. The city is also an international hub for business and trade, most recognized for its booming energy industries such as oil and natural gas. These industries and attractions make it a busy city for travel and its main airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport serves as the 10th busiest for total passengers in North America.
While GBA is the focus city for many major airlines such as Delta and Pan Am, there are several other airports the serve residents and visitors of Houston’s greater metropolitan area. These airports are ideal for chartering private jets and allow for quicker take off times. They include William P. Hobby Airport, Houston Executive Airport, and Sugar Land Regional Airport.
Hobby Airport became the secondary airport in the Houston area after the George Bush Airport was constructed and continues to offer commercial domestic airline service, mostly through Southwest Airlines. But it also serves as a regional center for corporate and private aviation. Competing with Hobby for private flights are Houston Executive Airport, a newly constructed airport with first-class amenities, and Sugar Land Regional Airport located 17 miles from the financial district and used by over 100 Fortune 500 companies each year.
