The Pensacola International Airport is a city-owned airport in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. It is located in the western part of the city near Warrington and Brent. The airport has been in operation since the 1940s. The airport covers 1,211 acres and has two runways. The Pensacola Airport was constructed in 1941 as a United States Army Air Forces base. The airfield was used by the Army Air Forces and Navy during World War II. In 1947, the airport was turned over to the City of Pensacola. The first commercial flight at the airport was on November 23, 1948. The airport had a single runway and a small terminal building.
The airport has undergone several expansions over the years. A new concourse was added and expanded two more times since. A new control tower was added in 1988. A new terminal building was constructed in 1995. The old terminal building was demolished in 2007 and a new midfield concourse was constructed.

Buchanan Field Airport is a public airport located in Contra Costa County, California. The airport is situated one mile west of the center of Concord and east of Pacheco. It has a control tower and was categorized by the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems as a reliever airport. The Army Air Forces Fourth Air Force expropriated the site in 1942 and developed the airport facilities as Concord Army Air Base. Today, Buchanan Field Airport continues to play an important role in reliever services for San Francisco Bay Area airports.
